Franklin is a city in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. Franklin is a suburb of Milwaukee with a population of 29,494 as of the 2000 census.

Franklin is nine miles (14 km) from downtown Milwaukee and four miles (6 km) from General Mitchell International Airport, close to Interstate 94. Running through the city are U.S. Highway 45, and WIS 36, WIS 100, and WIS 241.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 89.9 km (34.7 mi). 89.7 km (34.6 mi) of it is land and 0.2 km (0.1 mi) of it (0.26%) is water.

The Root River runs south through Franklin, cutting the city in half.
